GRIEF
Grief is a universal human experience following loss. While grief is a natural process, some individuals experience prolonged or complicated grief that disrupts daily functioning. Interventional Psychiatry Group offers compassionate, individualized support for those navigating grief.
What is grief?
Grief involves emotional, cognitive, physical, and behavioral responses to loss. DSM-5-TR recognizes Persistent Complex Bereavement Disorder (Prolonged Grief Disorder) when grief remains intense and disabling beyond expected cultural norms, marked by yearning, preoccupation with the deceased, or difficulty moving forward.
What treatments help manage grief?
We offer thorough psychiatric evaluations, short-term medication support when needed, individual therapy, family sessions, and grief groups. Our therapists have specialized training and extensive experience in grief and bereavement care and can also coordinate referrals to trusted grief specialists and connect you with bereavement resources. If symptoms evolve into depression, anxiety, or trauma-related concerns, we can expand your plan with advanced options like TMS, SPRAVATO® (for treatment-resistant depression), and structured programs (IOP/PHP).
Grief is personal—and so is our care. Call Interventional Psychiatry Group at 901-752-4900 to schedule an evaluation, or request an evaluation online.
