W. Taylor Bates is a compassionate physician assistant specializing in mental health care and substance use disorders. He earned his Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies from Christian Brothers University and is dedicated to supporting patients facing the challenges of dual diagnosis.
 
Taylor believes in the power of integrative, patient-centered care that considers the whole person—not just symptoms or diagnoses. He takes time to build strong, trusting relationships with his patients, offering empathetic listening, education, and collaborative treatment planning that honors each individual’s values and goals.
 
His approach recognizes that mental health and substance use challenges often intersect with social, spiritual, and personal factors. Taylor partners with patients to identify realistic, meaningful goals and provides ongoing support to navigate setbacks and celebrate progress. He prioritizes harm-reduction principles, motivational interviewing, and holistic wellness strategies to help patients build healthier, more fulfilling lives.
 
Taylor also has experience coordinating care with other medical providers, mental health professionals, and community resources to ensure seamless, wraparound support. Patients under his care can expect a safe, respectful environment where they feel heard, valued, and empowered to make meaningful change.
Outside of work, Taylor enjoys spending time with his family, caring for his two cats, and being involved in his church community.
