Provisionally Licensed Counselor | Trauma, Grief, and Neurodiversity Specialist
Melani Meacham is a provisionally licensed counselor who earned her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She is certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors and is a member of Chi Sigma Iota.
Melani is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals and families navigating the impact of trauma, grief, loss, and neurodiversity. She has completed specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients process traumatic experiences and improve daily functioning.
A key part of Melani’s practice includes working with children, adolescents, and adults on the autism spectrum. She brings both clinical expertise and deep empathy to supporting neurodivergent clients, helping them identify strengths, build coping skills, and navigate social, emotional, and sensory challenges. She collaborates closely with families to foster understanding and equip them with strategies to promote growth, communication, and connection.
Melani is passionate about creating a safe, nonjudgmental environment where neurodiverse individuals feel respected and valued. She understands that each client’s journey is unique and prioritizes tailoring interventions to meet individual needs while honoring their lived experiences.
Her experience also includes internships in private practice counseling and group trauma/grief intensives at Lakeside Behavioral Health Center Intensive Outpatient Program. Melani integrates a holistic approach that incorporates her Mental Health First Aider Certification and 200-hour yoga certification to support mind-body wellness.
As a former licensed K–6th grade and Spanish teacher, Melani has a strong background in supporting children with learning differences, IEP/504 plans, and behavioral challenges. She welcomes patients from age 5 through older adulthood and is dedicated to empowering clients to achieve their mental health goals in a supportive, collaborative space.
