An initial psychiatric evaluation is a comprehensive assessment conducted by a mental health professional, such as a psychiatrist or a psychiatric nurse practitioner, to gather information about a patient’s mental and emotional well-being. Do I need an Initial Psychiatric Evaluation? You may seek psychiatric help for many reasons. The problems can be sudden, such as crippling anxiety or sudden and severe change in behavior and mood, frightening hallucinations, or thoughts of suicide. Or they may be more long-term, such as feelings of hopelessness and helplessness, tearfulness, and problems with managing day-to-day responsibilities.
Seeking an Initial Psychiatric Evaluation is a proactive step towards understanding and addressing your concerns. If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, Call 901-752-4900 to schedule an evaluation, or request an evaluation online.
How do I prepare for my Initial Psychiatric Evaluation? After completing the new patient paperwork, you will meet one of our board-certified psychiatric providers at our outpatient office in the community of Cordova in Memphis, TN.
